Swapped out my stock intake for a cold air setup and finally get why people rave about it

I ran the factory intake on my 2005 Mustang GT for almost three years. Kept telling myself the gains weren't worth the money. Last weekend I finally bolted on a JLT cold air kit and the throttle response changed completely. Feels like the engine actually breathes now instead of gasping through a straw. Has anyone else waited way too long to make a simple mod like this?

lol @jordan184 is totally right about the tune thing, I went back and forth on that too before I did mine. But honestly the sound alone makes me want to drive the car more, even if the butt dyno is lying to me about the power. Maybe it's just placebo but whatever, I'm having fun with it.

I mean, I get it sounds better and the throttle feels snappier, but most of those butt-dyno gains are just the sound tricking you. On a stock tune the ECU just adapts back to the same airflow numbers within a few miles anyway. Save the money for a tuner or gears, that's where the real difference shows up.
