Rant: Coilovers felt worse than my old springs and struts on this CRX

Everyone swears by coilovers for track days, but last year I put a $900 set on my 1991 CRX and honestly, my $400 KYB spring and strut combo handled the bumps around Denver way better. The coilovers felt harsh on every crack and pothole, and I spent a full weekend chasing the right preload just to stop the clunking. I pulled them off after 3 months and sold them for half price. Has anyone else gone back to a basic setup after dropping cash on fancy suspension?
