Put a cold air intake on my 2005 Civic and the change in engine note was hilarious

Honestly, I swapped out the stock airbox for a $60 intake from eBay last Saturday. The first time I hit the gas, it went from a quiet hum to this gurgly roar that sounds like a pissed-off vacuum cleaner. Over the next three days, I kept flooring it just to hear the noise, even when I didn't need to speed up. My neighbor actually leaned out his window and asked if my car was broken. Has anyone else modded a car and ended up with a sound you weren't expecting?

Lol "pissed-off vacuum cleaner" is the perfect way to describe it, that's exactly how my old Accord sounded. I put a cheap cone filter on mine and it made this weird gargling noise at low rpm that made me laugh every time. My buddy was convinced my muffler fell off lmao.

Haha yeah man, those cheap cone filters always sound hilariously broken at low rpm, like the engine is trying to clear its throat. My buddy thought my truck was dying too until I told him I'd just been messing with the intake.
