My buddy's comment about my exhaust made me rethink everything

Was wrenching on my 2015 Mustang last weekend in my garage in Phoenix, putting in a new cat-back system. My buddy Dave stopped by and watched me for a bit, then said 'you're spending all this time on sound but you haven't touched the suspension.' That hit different because he was right, I've dumped maybe $800 into noise and zero into how it actually handles corners. I've been chasing that loud crackle since I was 19, but now at 34 I'm wondering if I should sell the loud pipes and grab some coilovers instead. Anyone else ever have that moment where a friend points out you're polishing the wrong part of the build?

Wait, you've spent $800 on exhaust sounds and never even touched your suspension? That's wild to me, man. I mean, I get the appeal, the crackle and pop is fun for sure, but that's like buying a bigger TV without checking if your cable package even has HD channels. I had the same wake-up call a couple years back when my buddy took me for a ride in his Miata, that thing was slower than my truck but it hugged corners like it was on rails. Felt like I was driving a boat in comparison. Your Mustang has decent bones from the factory, so a set of coilovers will completely change how you feel about the car, way more than a loud exhaust ever will on the street. I'd say do it, you can always put the loud pipes back on later, but you can't un-feel how bad your current setup handles once you know better.
