Coilover install went sideways in my driveway on Christmas Eve, one bolt saved me
Was swapping coilovers on my 2011 GTI in my driveway in Tacoma when the lower strut bolt seized solid and rounded off after I cranked on it with a 24 inch breaker bar. I soaked it in PB Blaster for 45 mins, hit it with a torch, and still nothing, so I ran to Harbor Freight for a $20 bolt extractor kit and it bit right in and spun it free. Lesson learned, always hit rusty suspension bolts with penetrating oil the night before, not 10 mins before you start. Anyone got a better trick for seized strut bolts on older VWs?
