Blew a coil spring on a pothole in Chicago last winter and now I swear by those rubber spring isolators

Hit a monster pothole on Lake Shore Drive in February and snapped my front coil spring clean in half, ended up having to limp it to a shop on Western Ave. Has anyone else had luck with those polyurethane spring seats keeping coils from rattling around?

Got a set of polyurethane spring seats from Energy Suspension after my OEM ones disintegrated on my old Accord. They stopped that annoying clunking noise every time I hit a bump but more importantly they kept the spring seated properly so it didn't pop loose again. You have to make sure the new isolators are thick enough though, some of the cheap ones squish down too fast and you're back to rattling within a year. I sprayed mine with silicone grease before installing and they've been quiet for two winters now.

Yeah my buddy Dan had that exact same thing happen on his Forester, he hit a frost heave on the Kennedy and the spring just snapped right where it sits in the lower isolator. He put those Energy Suspension ones in and they've held up for two seasons now, no squeaking or nothing even through the salt. The trick he told me was to clean the spring seat real good with a wire brush before you put them in, because road grime will make them slip around and wear out fast. He also said to check the isolator thickness with a caliper, the package said 8mm but his were actually 6mm and he had to stack two of them to get the spring to sit right.
