Warning: cheap belt sander belts are ruining your work

I swapped out a belt on a customer's dryer last Tuesday and the new belt shredded after three loads. Pulled it apart and the glue line was uneven, maybe 1/8 inch off. That's the third time this month I've seen it from those no-name packs on Amazon. The rubber compound feels different too, more brittle. Anyone else tracking failures from these off-brand belts?

Heard that loud and clear. I grabbed a 10 pack of those cheap Amazon belts for my shop a few months back and three of them snapped before I even got them on the machine. The rubber felt like old pencil erasers, just crumbling apart in my hands when I stretched them. It's not worth saving a few bucks when you're pulling a dryer apart twice, is it? I've gone back to buying from a local parts supplier even if it costs a bit more, at least I know the glue line holds.

Guess I got lucky then, mine are still holding up fine.
