PSA: stop replacing dishwasher drain pumps before checking the check valve

I did three dishwasher jobs last month in Phoenix where the pump was fine but the rubber check valve flap had folded over and was blocking the drain line. Each homeowner was ready to drop $180 on a new pump assembly, and I almost went along with it the first time. But I pulled the valve out, flipped it back, and the unit drained perfectly. Cost me maybe 20 minutes of labor and zero parts. The machine was a whirlpool from 2018, so age wasnt the issue, just a sticky flap. Now I always test the valve with a quick blow through before ordering anything. Has anyone else seen this on other brands, or is it just a whirlpool thing?
