Old timer told me to trust the error code not my gut on a Frigidaire ice maker
Spent three hours chasing a bad water valve on a Frigidaire ice maker because I was sure the E15 code was lying, but Kevin from the supply house said run the diagnostics first and sure enough it was a stuck thermistor I would have never found otherwise, has anyone else ignored a code and regretted it?

Man that's rough but I've been there too. Had a GE fridge throwing an F6 code and I just knew it was the main board, spent two days and a hundred bucks on a control board before finally running the diag and finding out it was a bad door switch the whole time. Kevin sounds like my guy Jerry at the parts counter, those old timers really do save you from chasing your tail. Sometimes you just gotta trust the machine even when every instinct says different.

My Frigidaire washer threw a code 24 last spring and I spent a whole Saturday tearing apart the drain pump because every YouTube video said that's what it was. Turned out a sock had gotten stuck in the rubber boot between the tub and the drum, not even touching the pump at all, and the machine was just sensing the imbalance. The code was literally trying to tell me something was blocking the spin cycle but I was too stubborn to read the full diagnostic tree in the service manual. Kevin's right though, those old timers have seen enough bad codes to know when to trust the machine and when to fight it.
