My cousin's DIY fix cost me a whole weekend job
He tried to save a few bucks by jamming a part into his dryer himself. Now the drum is seized up and I have to order a new motor. I think family should just call us first instead of making things worse. It feels like they don't respect our skills at all. This kind of thing burns me out more than any tough repair.

Man, that is beyond frustrating. It's like they see our job as just playing with tools instead of real skill. Having to clean up a botched DIY job always takes twice as long as the original fix would have. The worst part is absolutely that feeling they didn't trust you enough to call first. That disrespect burns way deeper than just the extra work. Stuff like this makes you want to just shut your phone off sometimes.

Hear stories like that and it just makes my blood boil. My uncle once tried to fix his sink with duct tape and called me after the floor was soaked. It's like they think our job is easy until they see the mess. Having to undo their work before you can even start the real fix is the worst. That feeling they didn't value your skill enough to call first, that's what stings.

Why do family always make it worse first? @caleb895 your uncle's duct tape disaster is the same vibe. That lack of trust feels way worse than the extra work.

I read a piece a while back that said people often try to fix stuff themselves because they're embarrassed to ask for help. That hits home with what @caleb895 shared about his uncle's duct tape mess. It's like they see calling you as admitting defeat, so they make things worse first. The real kicker is that they don't realize how much that hurts, way more than the cleanup. It just shows they didn't trust your know-how from the start.
