Warning: my uncle tried to argue with a chatbot about his tomato plants for 45 minutes
So my uncle Ray came over on Sunday and somehow got into a full argument with a garden chatbot about why his tomatoes in Fresno keep splitting. He kept typing "no, YOU listen" and reading the replies out loud like the thing owed him money. Around the 45 minute mark it told him to water less and more evenly, which is apparently exactly what his nursery guy had been telling him for two seasons. He went quiet, closed the laptop, and said "well now I feel dumb." Funny part is, I've been doing the same thing with AI at work, ignoring the plain answer because I wanted a fancier one. Did anyone else have a relative get humbled by a chatbot this year?
Wait, did he actually try the plain answer yet or is he still stuck on being mad at the laptop? Because that's the part I want to know. My mom did the same thing with her rose bushes last spring, argued with some app for an hour about black spots, and then did the exact thing it said anyway. Did your uncle ever go back and tell the chatbot it was right, or did he just quietly fix the watering and never speak of it again?
