Vent: My brother-in-law, who's a mechanic, said something about AI that stuck with me
We were at a family thing last week and he was complaining about a weird engine code. He said, 'The computer just spits out a generic fault, but it doesn't tell you the real story of what broke first.' Honestly, it made me think about all the AI tools I see that just give you an answer without showing their work. Like, they give you the 'what' but never the 'why' behind the data. It hit different because he's not a tech guy at all, he just fixes things for a living. Now I'm looking at every AI news post and wondering if it's just giving us the fault code instead of the full diagnostic. Has anyone else run into an AI tool lately that actually explains its reasoning in a way a normal person can follow?

Oh man, that's such a good point lol. My cousin tried one of those AI tax helper things last year, and it just told her she owed money but gave zero clue which part of her freelance gigs triggered it. She had to pay a real person to basically trace the steps the AI should have shown. It's like getting a grade on a test with all the answers marked wrong and no notes on why.

My dog could probably give better tax advice.
