My skepticism about AI transcription tools faded after a warehouse mix-up

I used to think AI transcription was just a gimmick for people who couldn't type fast. Then last month, our inventory logs got corrupted and I had to manually sort through 50 voice memos from the floor supervisors. I tried one of those AI tools to transcribe them, figuring it'd be a mess. It caught every part number and location correctly, even with the mumbling and background noise. Has anyone else had a tool surprise them when they needed it most?

Saw a piece about how these tools handle background noise better than people expect. That warehouse environment with all the rumbling and beeping would've killed a regular recording. Makes me wonder why we ever doubted them considering how much data they train on.

Right, that "rumbling and beeping" part got me. I was at a friend's place and they had a fan going plus the AC kicking on and off. Tried to record a voice memo to remind myself about something for work the next day. Thought it would be totally garbled but when I played it back you could hear every word clear as day. It's wild how the tech just sorts through all that mess now. Makes me think about how much noisy data they must have thrown at these things to get them this good.
