My brother said AI voice clones are just a party trick, but a demo in Seattle changed my mind

He always said they were creepy and useless. Then I saw a real-time demo at a small tech meetup in Seattle where they used a tool called ElevenLabs to clone a voice and have it read a script in another language, keeping the speaker's tone perfect. It wasn't just a copy, it was a full translation tool that kept the feeling. Has anyone else seen a practical use for this that isn't just for fun?

Tbh @lilyfisher I caught that same demo in Portland last month and it was wild. The way the AI nailed those voice nuances and inflections felt almost too real. Honestly that's the kind of tech that makes me wonder where we're heading with deepfakes and all that. Still though, the natural flow of the speech was something else, made me want to mess around with it myself.
