I just hit 500 curated AI art pieces in my personal collection and it hit me how much the tools have shifted since 2022

Back then I was fiddling with VQGAN and CLIP for hours just to get a blurry face, now I can generate a coherent scene in seconds and it still feels weird to scroll through that first folder of weird pixel blobs.

Yeah I mean it's cool that things got faster and all but is this really that deep? It's a tool getting better at doing a job, same as any software update. You don't see people getting all nostalgic about Photoshop filters from 2010. The whole "feels weird" thing just sounds like you're putting too much weight on what's basically a novelty. At the end of the day it's still just generating pictures, not like you're preserving some lost art form or something. I guess I just don't get the emotional connection to pixels that used to look like crap.

Guess that perspective actually shifted my view seeing how far it's come in such a short time.
