Guy at my Tuesday meetup showed me his AI bird ID app and it caught a wren I've missed for 3 years
I go to a small AI meetup in Sacramento every other Tuesday at a coffee shop on J street. A retired teacher named Ron sat next to me two weeks ago and pulled out his phone to show me an app he built with a free image model and a bird call dataset. He said the model flagged a Pacific wren from a 4 second recording he took in his backyard, a bird he never once saw in 30 years of watching. I tried it on an old clip from my phone and it worked too. What are you all building for hobbies that has nothing to do with work?
That stinks you missed that wren for 3 whole years, but at least now you know it was out there the whole time. Ron sounds like a cool guy for sharing that with you.
