Bought an AI note-taker for $50 and it actually saved my team some real headaches

I was always the guy rolling his eyes at AI tools, especially the ones that promise to make meetings easier. But our warehouse shift handoffs were getting messy with people forgetting details, so I shelled out 50 bucks for a basic AI transcription app. I figured it would just record and spit out garbled text, but after two weeks I saw it was catching important stuff like pallet counts and damaged inventory that people kept glossing over. It saved us from a few mix-ups where the night crew blamed the day crew for missing orders. Now I go back through the summaries instead of relying on my notes that always end up coffee-stained. Has anyone else tried one of these cheap AI helpers and actually had it work out?

@williamprice that machine maintenance thing hits close to home - we had a similar situation with a conveyor belt that kept squeaking during day shift but nobody put it in the logbook. The AI caught somebody saying "that belt sounds like it's gonna grenade" in passing and flagged it in the summary. Did yours pick up stuff from side conversations too or only the main meeting parts? I'm still trying to figure out how much background chatter it can trash out before it messes up the important bits.

Filter out the signal from the noise with a quick daily transcript check.

Dude same here, I was super skeptical about AI stuff before I grabbed one of those cheap transcription apps for our shop floor meetings. It caught a detail about a machine needing maintenance that everyone forgot to write down in the logbook, and that alone saved us from a breakdown later in the week. I just pull up the transcript on my phone whenever I need to remember who said what, and it's way better than trying to piece together my own scribbled notes. The summaries are actually readable and not just a wall of text, which surprised me for the price. It's wild how something so simple can clean up a whole mess of confusion.
