Appreciation post: I finally stopped rewriting my prompts 10 times and the model got better
For about 4 months I was treating every prompt like a term paper, tweaking wording and adding rules until it was 300 words long, and honestly the answers kept getting worse and more generic. Then a guy in a Discord server asked me to paste my prompt for a photo caption and said "dude, the model is drowning in your instructions," so I cut one down to 2 short lines and got a better result in one try. How short do you all keep your prompts before the model actually starts losing the point?
