My grandma's sewing advice cost me 40 bucks in ruined curtains
She always said measure twice cut once, but I trusted my eye on those bay window curtains in Toledo. Turns out her saying was about fabric that stretches, and modern blackout lining doesnt forgive a crooked line. I hung them and the light leaks made the whole room look like a broken venetian blind. Anyone else find old craft sayings fall apart when the materials change?

Laughing because my grandma swore by "a stitch in time saves nine" and I used that logic to skip reinforcing my new couch cushions, now they look like pancakes after two months. Her advice was solid for wool and cotton, but these modern foams just squish flat no matter how many stitches you add.
