How long should touch-up paint take? Apparently 11 days in my case

I bought a can of matte sage to fix a chip on my front door in Portland, but the store mixed it wrong twice, so I went back and forth three times before I got a shade that didn't glow pink next to the old coat. Then I found out my door is actually two different colors because the previous owner painted the top half with a different batch. I spent an afternoon sanding it all down and now it's kind of a faded tie-dye splotch that I'm calling "patina." Has anyone else gotten stuck on a simple paint fix that spiraled into a whole weekend project?

Is it just me, or does every simple home fix secretly turn into a full archaeology dig on your own house? Like, you start out thinking "eh, small chip" and end up discovering layers of bad decisions from three owners ago. I had a friend in Seattle who tried to patch a nail hole in his hallway and found out the whole wall was painted with four different shades of "white" that all look slightly yellow under certain lights. Now he just calls it "warm vintage" and refuses to touch it. Honestly, that patina thing you got going sounds like a feature at this point, not a bug. Sometimes the paint store messing up is just the universe telling you to accept the chaos.
