Overheard a nurse say something about hospital air that bugs me

I was sitting in the ER waiting room in Memphis last Tuesday and heard two nurses talking about how the oxygen pipes in the walls get cleaned less often than the water lines, and it sounded like a joke but they were serious. That made me wonder if every public building has some hidden system that's grosser than we think and nobody talks about it. Has anyone else heard about a weird maintenance fact that made you look at a normal place differently?

Man that's wild. I actually read something a while back about hotel ice machines being nastier than toilet seats and it kinda ruined hotels for me for a bit. But the oxygen pipe thing is a whole other level since it's literally in the walls of hospitals, you know? Makes you wonder what else is just quietly gross in places we assume are clean. I guess the air we breathe in buildings is probably not as fresh as we all pretend it is.
