The sign at the post office said 'Package Pikcup' for 6 months and nobody fixed it until I complained

I drove to the Cedar Rapids post office three separate times last month looking for the package pickup window. Walked past it twice because the sign said 'Pikcup' and my brain just skipped over it like it was a glitch. Finally asked a clerk and she pointed right at it. Told her about the typo and she said they'd noticed it too but no one wanted to deal with the paperwork. Submitted a complaint through the website on a Tuesday, got a generic response Thursday. Showed up the following Monday and the sign was still wrong. It took a full week and a phone call to the regional office before they replaced it. Am I the only one who thinks the universe just lets bad signs live forever until someone makes a scene?

That's the thing about public spaces, once something becomes familiar people just stop seeing it. The clerk admitted they knew about the typo, which tells you nobody took ownership of it. It probably became a running joke in the office, like an inside thing they all shared while customers kept walking in circles. Same deal with a broken clock in a lobby or a flickering light in a hallway, everyone notices at first, then they get used to it. Your complaint was the push they needed, but it shouldn't take a phone call to a regional office to fix a six letter word. That sign probably got more attention in one week from you than it did in six months from the people paid to look at it every day.
