Color-matched repair caulk that fades darker than the siding after 2 weeks

Bought a cedar-toned repair caulk from Home Depot in Columbus last month, patched three nail holes on the south-facing wall, and now those spots are noticeably darker than the panel, did I grab the wrong product or does everyone deal with this shade shift?

Did you grab the same brand as the siding itself, or just any cedar tone? Those repair caulks soak up UV different than real wood, so two weeks of afternoon sun on a south wall will make any patch darken while the panel fades. Honestly, that's normal for most caulk, folks just don't read the fine print about "color matching" being a starting point, not a finish line. You'll be re-caulking or painting over those spots every season, so don't stress it too much.
