PSA: That $300 "pro" color calibration tool set my camera back a week

I dropped $300 on a handheld color calibration system thinking it would fix my skin tones for client work. Instead it took me six days and two reshoots in Austin to realize the software default was shifting everything green. The included test card also had a scratch that threw off every reading. Has anyone else had worse luck with these expensive tools versus just using free vectorscope guides?

Ditched my $80 grey card for one of those handheld units last year and honestly regret it. I used to swear by the fancy gear until I spent a whole weekend fighting a magenta cast that turned out to be the tool's own bug. Vectorscopes and a decent monitor profile got me closer in forty minutes than that thing did in three days.
