Rant: my thrift store find got roasted here, but I actually love it
Last Saturday I hauled home a ceramic deer head with gold antlers from a Goodwill in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and everyone at my dinner party laughed for ten straight minutes. I get that it's kitschy and the eyes are a little crossed, but it's got character and it was only $12, which beats another boring beige landscape. Am I crazy for thinking ugly decor can be a genuine conversation piece instead of just a joke?

Own that deer like a boss. I once spent $8 on a painting of a sad clown playing a tiny violin and hung it right above my toilet, so I'm clearly the wrong person to judge taste. Honestly, your deer already sounds way better than the clown because at least it's got some sparkle, even if it's looking at two different walls. My friends still roast me about the clown, but you know what, it starts a way better convo than a framed map of the world ever did. Keep the deer, tell the doubters to kick rocks, and maybe invest in some googly eyes to fix that cross-eyed situation. That's a real conversation piece, my dude.
