My neighbor's 20-year-old darning method saved my favorite wool socks

She told me to use a lightbulb inside the sock as a form, and after trying it on 3 pairs last Tuesday, I finally got holes that actually stay patched instead of unraveling by Friday, anyone else use weird household items for their repairs?
