Three thrift store blazers, same bizarre shoulder pad placement
After buying a 1980s blazer with the pads sewn a full inch forward on the sleeves at Goodwill in Portland, then seeing the same mistake on two more jackets that week, I finally checked the seams and realized it's a common factory shortcut people ignore when they resell, so has anyone else noticed this on vintage jackets and do you just rip the pads out or try to reposition them?

Found the same thing on a 90s suit I grabbed at a garage sale, pads sat so far forward the sleeves bunched up weird when I moved my arms. I tried sewing them back once, but the fabric was so worn the stitches just pulled through, so now I just rip them out and live with flopped shoulders. Honestly, half the fun of thrifting is finding these little factory screwups and talking about them like we're CSI detectives on a jacket case.
