Dollar store dice tray saved my group's campaign night
Last month at a game store in Dayton I saw a plastic photo frame with a deep lip, like the kind for holding 8x10s, marked at $1.25. I grabbed two, popped out the glass, and flipped the frame over to use as a dice tray. The lip keeps dice from flying off and it stacks flat in my bag. My group used them for three sessions so far and nobody's lost a crit roll under the couch. Next I'm gonna try cutting a felt sheet to fit the inside with spray adhesive. Anybody else repurposed cheap frames or similar stuff for their table?

Man that is genius! I did basically the same thing last year with an old picture frame I found at a thrift store for like 50 cents. Pulled the backing off, flipped it, and it worked perfect for my dice. The best part is how flat they store, my bag used to be a mess with dice rolling around everywhere. I even tried the felt thing you mentioned, but I used double sided tape instead of spray adhesive because I didn't want the mess. The felt really helps cut down the noise too, dice sound way less clacky which my wife appreciates. Totally stealing your photo frame idea for when we host game night at our place, need a couple more trays for the whole table.
