Worst puzzle week of my life, the Quern hint system betrayed me
Last Tuesday I was breezing through Quern's water wheel section when the in-game hint gave me a step that was flat out wrong, so I wasted 4 hours rebuilding the same pipe setup. Then the SAME hint repeated itself after I rechecked the journal, and I finally saw it skipped a whole valve I had missed because the screen glare hid it. Has anyone else had a hint system actively send them down a dead end, or was I just cursed that day?

That hint system drove me nuts too, but I actually think it did you a favor in a weird way. The whole point of Quern is to make you question what you think you know, and that skipped valve taught you to slow down and check everything twice. I had a similar moment in the observatory puzzle where the journal said one thing but the actual mechanism worked another way, and it turned out I was reading the clue wrong, not the game. Screen glare is rough, but that is a real world problem, not a hint system failure. Give it another go with fresh eyes, you might end up liking it more for the fight.
