Used to speedrun puzzle games, now I read every journal entry twice

Back in 2019 I blew through The Witness in a weekend, barely reading any of the audio logs. After getting stuck on a Quern puzzle last month for two days, I finally sat down and read all the in-game notes, and the solution was hiding in a line I'd skipped. Anyone else find that slowing down actually makes these games easier, not harder?
