I finally replayed Myst after 20 years and it broke my brain
My buddy Dave said the puzzles are just a language lesson, not logic. He pointed out that every lever and book is a sentence, so brute forcing destroys the whole point. I thought he was full of it until I got stuck on the Selenitic Age for 3 hours. Once I treated the sound maze like a question instead of a trial, it clicked. Anyone else feel like these old games punish you for ignoring the world-building?

Honestly, your buddy Dave nailed it. Tbh, I always thought the puzzles were pure logic too until I replayed it last year. The sound maze got me exactly the same way, I was just clicking stuff randomly and getting nowhere. Once I stopped and actually listened to the clues, like really paid attention to what the world was telling me, it flipped a switch. It’s wild how much those old games trust you to read the story instead of just solving boxes. You’re not alone in feeling like your brain got rewired, that’s a real thing.
