The "professional" tone rewrite just made my post sound like a robot
I watched a friend spend 45 minutes turning a straightforward forum comment into something with words like 'utilize' and 'facilitate' because someone told them it sounded more professional. It completely killed the personality and the actual point got lost. I rewrote it back to plain language and it got triple the replies in the first hour. Why do we keep pushing people to sound like corporate HR memos instead of just talking like humans?

...and honestly that 45 minutes could have been spent actually answering people. Do you think part of it is that some folks just don't trust their own voice online, so they hide behind words they'd never say out loud?
