The flower pot I made crumbled after 3 days, but the failure taught me something

Last Tuesday I tried folding pages from an old atlas into a little vase for my kitchen counter, and it collapsed into a soggy heap when I put a wet stem in it. I realized I treated the paper like it was waterproof when the glue I used just dissolved on contact with moisture. Has anyone found a sealant or coating that actually keeps folded book art sturdy around water, or do you just stick to dry displays?

You ever try sealing paper with mod podge and think you got it right, but then the humidity just laughs at you? I did a whole origami bowl once, coated it in three layers, and it still went limp like a wet noodle by the next morning. Maybe give it a shot with a clear spray lacquer instead, or just keep the vase for looks and use a glass insert...
