That client who said my landing pages were too wordy, 3 weeks later my conversion rate doubled

I run a small ecom brand out of Austin, TX. Last month a client looked at my product page copy and said 'nobody reads all this, you're not writing a novel.' I was offended at first because I spent days on those descriptions. But I went back and cut everything down to 2 short paragraphs plus bullet points. What do you know, my add to cart rate went from 1.8% to 3.6% in 3 weeks. Has anyone else gotten harsh feedback that actually fixed a blind spot in their funnel?

Austin had a heat wave that week. My heat maps showed nobody even scrolled past the first paragraph. That feedback hurt but it was the truth. Sometimes we get so attached to our own words we forget the customer just wants to know if the thing fits and ships fast. Cutting copy feels like losing a limb but the numbers dont lie. Bet you noticed your bounce rate drop too.
