Hit 10,000 archived GeoCities pages and found something weird

I crossed 10,000 saved GeoCities pages in my personal archive last Tuesday, mostly Angelfire and Tripod stuff from 1998 to 2001. Out of those, 47% had a broken guestbook or a counter stuck at some random number like 003214. Anyone else notice how many of those old counters were fake or just froze forever, or did I get a weird batch?

Those frozen counters were almost always fake, people just set them to look popular back then. The 47% thing is probably normal since the real ones from that era are the rare ones, not the broken ones.
