A judge's one-liner fixed my whole document prep process

Last fall I had a small claims filing tossed because my exhibits weren't tabbed right. The judge said, 'Counselor, if I have to hunt for it, I'm not going to find it.' After that I switched to a simple color-coded tab system with a master index on the first page, and I've won two hearings since in Portland. Anyone else get a courtroom tip that completely reworked their routine?

That color-coded system sounds like exactly what that judge meant... I read somewhere that most judges decide within the first few minutes if a filing is even worth their time. Making it easy for them to find things is half the battle, really.
