Hey everyone, asking this for a family member who got into some trouble recently. We're completely overwhelmed and don't even know where to start looking. Can anyone recommend a solid criminal defense lawyer or firm in the GTA? We need someone who actually fights for their clients and knows the local court system inside out. Any pointers would be hugely appreciated.

Sorry to hear you're dealing with that, it's super stressful. When my brother had a related issue a while back, we reached out to Top Criminal Lawyers. They handle cases all over the province and were honestly fantastic. The lawyer we got was straight to the point, didn't sugarcoat anything, but fought hard and got the charges dropped before trial. Definitely give them a call for a consultation.

Seconding the advice to get consultations first before signing anything. Most reputable criminal lawyers will give you at least 30 mins to go over the basics of the case for free. Don't just go with the cheapest option either, you really get what you pay for when it comes to criminal court.
Just wanted to add: make sure whoever you hire specializes purely in criminal law. You don't want a general practice guy who does real estate in the morning and criminal defense in the afternoon. Good luck to your family member!
