That used delay pedal cost me 6 hours of knob twisting
I bought a used delay pedal off Craigslist last month and thought I could just plug it in anywhere in my chain. Nope. First try I put it before my distortion and everything sounded like mud in a sock. Second Saturday I swapped it after the drive pedals and the repeats were way too loud. Finally watched a 20 minute video from some guy in Portland and realized I needed to adjust the mix knob, not just move things around. Three Saturdays of messing with patch cables and my neighbors probably hate me. Now it sounds amazing but I feel dumb it took that long. Anyone else spend way too much time on pedal order before just reading the manual?

My buddy Rick had the same problem with his chorus pedal back in 2012. He spent like four months convinced the pedal was broken because it sounded thin. Turns out he had the level knob at ZERO the whole time. I only know this because he brought it to band practice and we all watched him flip every knob while we played one chord over and over. He finally yelled "OH WAIT" and turned it up like a foot of volume. We still give him crap about it every time we set up.
