Spotting more vegetable varieties in decorative landscaping lately

On my way home from night shifts, I've seen several houses using kale and peppers as border plants. The leafy greens add nice texture next to traditional flowers. In my own garden, I'm trying Swiss chard with zinnias for a pop of color. It feels like a practical twist on classic yard design.

Started mixing herbs like purple basil in my flower beds last year. It adds color and you can snip some for cooking. This trend makes so much sense for small spaces. Even my neighbor has lettuce lining her walkway now. It makes the garden both useful and nice to look at.

My attempt at mixing herbs ended with me just growing a bunch of mint everywhere. It spread like crazy and now my flower bed is a mint jungle, lol. At least I have unlimited mojito supplies now.

@the_iris, your herb mix inspired my thyme border (so practical!).
