Put my bonus into a robo-advisor, but my buddy says do it yourself.

Automated investing or hands-on control, which is better for beginners?

What's the point of using a robot if you never learn how money really works? I messed around with a simple portfolio for years before I got fancy, and it taught me a ton. Fees add up fast with those advisors, too.

Fees really do add up, and while @the_kelly has a point about robos for beginners, you gotta learn the basics.

My buddy says do it yourself, but I read robo advisors are solid for starting out.
