Can we talk about warming up? I used to skip it every time.

For years, I jumped right into my home workouts without any warm up. I thought it was a waste of time and just wanted to get to the good stuff. Then, I started getting little aches and pains, especially in my knees and shoulders. I read online that a proper warm up can prevent injuries and even make your workout better. So, I tried adding just five minutes of light cardio and moving stretches. To my surprise, I felt more ready for the exercises and my form improved. Now, I never skip it, and those pains have mostly gone away. Has anyone else seen a big difference from warming up?

My training partner Mike never warms up before heavy lifts. He's set state records without any prep time. The injury talk is overblown for most lifters.

How many times has Mike been hurt long term though?

I saw a study once where they tracked lifters over a few years. The ones who skipped warm-ups had way more shoulder and knee issues over time. Mike might be lucky, but most of us aren't built like that.
