I've been stuck in permit limbo for weeks. Getting the green light today has me pumped to start the foundation. What was your experience with local building departments?

Dig into the inspector dynamics. Hannah's buddy had to redo footings THREE times, but WHY? Was there a code section cited, or just vague complaints? Thomas mentioned paperwork errors off-site. How do you even fight that when the rule isn't posted? I'm staring down my own foundation pour and now I'm paranoid. What strategies actually worked to get clear answers from these guys?

My buddy in Tacoma waited EIGHT months for a simple deck permit. The inspector made him redo the footings THREE times for no clear reason.

Tell me about it, I waited six months for a garage permit last year. They failed the first inspection over some tiny paperwork error that wasn't even on site. The whole process feels designed to test your patience.
