I finally saw the ripple effect of if the printing press was never invented
I was digging into old tech history and it struck me. Without the printing press, knowledge spread would have been so slow. I connected the dots by seeing how books shaped Europe. That might have delayed the Renaissance and science advances. What's your take on this alternative timeline?

Just picture monks handwriting every single bible until their hands cramp up forever. News would travel so slow we'd hear about the Spanish Inquisition years after it started, which honestly might be a perk. We'd probably still think the sun goes around the Earth because that science paper would still be copying by quill.

Wait, was it really that bad though? Monks had other stuff to do besides copying all day.

Seriously, it was a huge deal. Those books took forever to make by hand, which meant hardly anyone could get one. Brian Fox has a point about that science paper never getting out. When you think about how long it actually takes to do careful work like that by hand, it makes sense why new ideas spread so slow. It wasn't just about sore hands, it kept most people in the dark.
