Spent forever in a line on the Old Rag scramble last Saturday
I headed out to Shenandoah to hike Old Rag last weekend. When I got to the rock scramble part, there was a huge backup of people. We stood there for what felt like ages, maybe over an hour. The sun was really strong, and I drank all my water too fast. This threw off my whole plan for the day, so I had to cut the hike short. It sort of spoiled the trip for me. Has anyone else run into this on a busy trail? How do you deal with these kinds of delays? I mean, should I try going on a weekday or pick a different trail?

Popular trails like Old Rag get insanely crowded, especially on weekends. I read that park staff really push for weekday trips to avoid those lines (which totally fits with what @ben_wells96 said about rush hour). Switching to a less busy trail nearby could be your best bet if weekdays aren't an option.
