Back when the riverside dock was our secret hangout spot

We'd spend hours there and hardly ever saw another person. These days, you're lucky to find a spot to sit, lmao.

Yeah, that line about being lucky to find a spot to sit hits different now. I always figured more people finding a cool place was a good thing, you know, sharing the beauty. But seeing the trash left behind last time, and the literal line for a photo, it just feels hollow now. It changed from a place you go to be, to a place you go to be seen. Kinda ruins the magic that made it special in the first place.

Wait, a line for photos? That's where it's totally jumped the shark. Sean_Davis is right about it just being for show now. When you need to wait your turn to pretend to have a real moment somewhere, the whole point is gone. The magic was in having a place that felt separate from all that noise. Now it's just another background for social media, and the quiet part that made it special is completely dead.

Totally get what you mean about it changing from a place to be into a place to be seen. My buddy went to that old covered bridge last fall, the one everyone posts. He said there was a line of like ten people waiting to take the exact same picture on the bridge. He just wanted to walk across and look at the river, but he felt weird just walking past them all, like he was messing up their shot. He ended up leaving without even going on it. Said the whole quiet feeling was gone, replaced by this awkward pressure to perform.
