My old house key stopped working, but the locksmith said it never changed

Honestly, I went to my rental property in Springfield last Tuesday and my key just wouldn't turn in the deadbolt. Called a locksmith, he took the lock apart and said the pins and cylinder were the same as always, no sign of tampering. He even compared it to the spare I keep at my shop, and they were identical. The key worked fine the week before and works perfectly again now. Has anyone else had a lock just reject a key for a day for no clear reason?

Yeah, maybe it was just burnt out from all that hard work.
