Just realized I've completely flipped on how I explain deja vu to people

Honestly, for years I told everyone it was just a brain memory hiccup, like a filing error. Then last fall, I had this crazy moment in a Kroger in Cincinnati where I knew a guy was going to drop a jar of pickles three seconds before he did. Now I think some of it is way weirder than science says. Has anyone else had a premonition that specific?

Maybe it's not a premonition, but the brain processing the present a split second before you're aware of it.

Yeah, that's a solid point from @evah40.

I had that same thing happen but with a biker in Des Moines last summer. I got this weird feeling right before he swerved around a pile of gravel I knew about from driving that road earlier. Youre right that science has a lot of the answers, but man, there are moments that just feel too specific. I heard a neuroscientist say its like your brain sees patterns in slow motion and jumps ahead, but that doesnt explain knowing the exact jar of pickles or a bikers exact move. Maybe we need a new term for the really precise stuff, something between deja vu and straight up prediction.
