My clear frit pulls used to be cloudy until I started pre-heating the cullet for 30 seconds.
The difference was night and day after just one weekend of trying it. Anyone else have a simple trick for getting cleaner color melts?

But what if the cloudiness is part of the charm?

Huh, that "cloudiness is part of the charm" thing... I never thought of it that way but it got me thinking. Maybe the cloudiness isn't a flaw but actually the glass reacting to the metal oxides settling differently during the firing cycle. I had a batch of peacock green that came out looking almost sea glass once, all hazy and soft, and I honestly liked it more than the clear versions I tried later. It gave it this old, weathered look that felt way more authentic than something perfect.

Yeah, my friend Sarah had the same issue with her cobalt blue. It kept coming out streaky and dull. She started mixing a tiny bit of clear frit into the color batch before loading it, just a pinch. The next piece came out so much more even, like a solid sheet of color. What colors are you working with right now?
