I quit weighing rocks on site and my log is a MESS now

I figured it would save time, but now I can't compare samples properly. TOTALLY regret skipping that step.

Yeah, you gotta weigh them. My crew tried skipping it once and the data was useless. Just suck it up and start weighing again, sort the old log later.

Honestly that "suck it up and start weighing" thing is everywhere. People keep trying to skip the boring steps to save time, like not reading the manual for a new gadget. Tbh it always just means you have to go back and do it right anyway.

Nah, skipping a step doesn't always mean a full redo. Sometimes you find a better way by just jumping in and figuring it out as you go. Betty144's crew might have had one bad try, but that doesn't mean the old log is useless or their new method won't work. You can change your plan halfway through if you're paying attention.
