I finally bought a $40 UV light sanitizer box for my phone and keys
It feels like a total waste now, but maybe I'm missing the point? Does anyone actually use these things long-term?

Total waste" makes me wonder, what did you think it would do?

Ugh, I feel that. Jesse's got a point, what were we even expecting? Sometimes you buy into the hype and end up with a fancy paperweight. I've been there, tossing money at something that promised to fix everything and just... didn't. It's the worst kind of letdown.

Give them a bit more time, I've had one of those for about 6 months and I still use it every day (mostly for my phone after I come back from the gym). The trick is treating it like a habit station, not a magic cure - just keep it next to your keys so you drop your stuff in automatically. It's not gonna change your life, but it does give me a little peace of mind knowing my phone isn't covered in whatever I picked up at the grocery store.
